Going to the Match exhibition opens 23 March 2023
This exhibition celebrates L.S. Lowry and Bolton Wanderers Football Club and has been created in partnership with The Lowry and Bolton Wanderers. The centrepiece of the exhibition is L.S. Lowry’s iconic painting Going to the Match.
The exhibition will also celebrate the history of Bolton Wanderers in the year that marks the 100th anniversary of the club’s first FA Cup Final victory in 1923.
The painting was recently put up for auction at Christie’s where it was purchased by The Lowry in Salford for a record £8.1m. The purchase was made possible thanks to a generous gift from the Law Family Charitable Foundation.
