Look for a Book

Greater Manchester Festival of Libraries book hunt - Look for a Book

Fairytale filled May Half-Term with Bolton Library and Museum Service

Look for a Book’

We are delighted to announce an exciting and adventurous activity for families this half-term with our "Look for a Book" hunt! Kicking off the Greater Manchester Festival of Libraries, this event invites children to explore public and green spaces in search of hidden treasures. From Tuesday, 28 May to Saturday, 1 June, book packs containing Konnie Huq’s "Fearless Fairy Tales" will be secreted away in heritage spots and parks throughout Bolton.

If you discover one of these book packs, it’s yours to keep! Additionally, by notifying the library service of your find, your name will be entered into a prize draw. The lucky winner will receive an exclusive opportunity to meet Konnie Huq in person at Oldham Library on Saturday, 15 June. Clues to the book locations will be shared on Bolton Libraries' Facebook page, where participants are also encouraged to post their photos upon finding the books.

Konnie Huq shared her excitement about the event, saying, “I’m thrilled that ‘Fearless Fairy Tales’ is off on a great adventure of its own around Greater Manchester’s green and community spaces for ‘Look for a Book’! I’m proud to be supporting libraries; this is such a fun way to share the range of services and activities they offer.

The Greater Manchester Festival of Libraries will take place from 12 to 16 June, featuring a remarkable lineup of events across 133 academic, private, and public libraries in the region. Attendees can look forward to engaging sessions with authors, poets, performers, and artists. For more information and to book events, please visit the Manchester City of Literature website: www.manchestercityofliterature.com/event/look-for-a-book-2024/.

We hope to see many young explorers and their families participating in this delightful hunt, celebrating the joy of reading and our vibrant library community!
